To my readers who are few in numbers but readers nonetheless. Another fruitless Saturday night, well scratch that my brother sold a car, so half of the takings make me a little bit happy. Next weekend brings on the WSOP riches and Las Vegas trappings, but I am ready to take it head on. Right now as I read this Toto Leonidas is the chip leader at the Omaha championship event, lets hope next week this Filipino will be atop some WSOP chip count. We also have Manny Pacquiao fighting on Saturday so I hope I can have enough chips provided I last that long to watch the fight with David Diaz. Looks like Manny didnt take this man seriously and im concerned because this Diaz is no joke. He has been having the training camp of his life in order to prepare for Pacman, while Pac has just seem to coast on through and hope that will be enough for this foe.

I id also like to publicly apologize to my friend and online backer for a couple of days, I didnt play my best and I got too overconfident. If I get some of that WSOP cash ill take care of ya, how bout that? Right now I feel with poker that I have finally progressed to take that next step, and I have totally took my game to a new level now. What that means in terms of cold hard cash, remains to be seen. As for my job its going smoothly for now, and I hope a few little things I am putting off doesnt come back and bite me in the ass.

Still winning and played with a WSOP champion

Well this is positive variance for sure, I am playing really good right now. Just crushing the 3-5 NL games at the Muckleshoot and Tulalip. I havent had a losing session since I have gotten back from the Philippines. Only losing session was 100 dollars playing 3-6 limit, which is basically donkey/no fold em hold em. I manged to turn an initial buy in of $300 into $1243 after 7 hours of play. Major hand of night was QQ in BB. With 5 limpers, I then raise it to 30. 3 callers, flop is 7, 3, Q. I check, raise of 30 every one folds, i call, turn is a king, I check he bets out 100 I push in and I have him covered for 600. He calls he holds k7, river no king. I take down a huge pot.I have been making the right plays, right bluffs, right laydowns, I am just playing so above the rim right now as my idol Phil Hellmuth Jr likes to say.

I also unknowingly played with Christian Van Hees, who is a WSOP bracelet winner, with multiple final table appearances. Turns out to be a nice guy who just loves to play poker, they werent having the 5/10 NL game going, so thats why some of those players were at the 3/5 game.

On the poker front I played one hell of a tournament at the Diamond Lil's Triple Crown 120 dollar event. Played well and ran well in tournament, just forgot to change gears a bit and gambled in a hand I shouldn't of even if I was big favorite on flop. After that tournament I have ran just as bad as anyone can playing low limit limit hold em. 4/8, 3/6 , and one session of 2-40 spread just playing those limits in a few sessions have crushed me to the tune of almost 2,000 dollars. Took alot of beats but I don't sweat it anymore like I used to, guess this is just the way the ebb and flow of low limit LH. I would love to play the NL games but they are just too far to play on a normal basis, 40-45 min north to Tulalip, or to the Muckleshoot which is 30 min to the south. Now I have decided to slow down and put a normal monthly poker trip to Vancouver, Canada on hold. Been going out alot lately and spending too much money, in addition to the poker losses it has depleted funds dramatically. On the bright side I do have my new shiny IPHONE, I love, love, love it, even if it did set me back quite a few Benjamins on it. My brother now wants to trade his N92 for it, im like HELL NO!

Back to the poker side of things, now im seriously debating whether I should play in the Northwest Poker Championships...

Usually, I wouldnt even think twice about playing, but ive lost and spent an abnormal amount of money this month without winning. Plus with the event 4 days away from the trip to the Philippines, 600 bucks would take a chunk out of the PI poker fund should I not do well in the tourny. But im 80% sure ill be playing in it, with an expected 40k to the winner, and an anticipated 150k prize pool its well worth it. I'll probably prepare for the tournaments by playing in the daily 30 dollar tournaments at the Roxbury Lanes casino.

On to other things in my life, tomorrow I start my strict diet and crazy exercise regimen. I have a little less than a month to look halfway decent before I get to the Philippines. Nightmare Final Table

played this 60 dollar deep stack tourny. I came into the final table as chip leader and what ensued at this table was horror. Took first hit when KQ outflopped my AK, 2nd hit again came with AK losing to 4,5, and final nail in coffin was AJ outflopped my 99. All plays were preflop. I even got a penalty after the first hit because i was slamming my chips around. Funny thing is my dad made the final table with me and none of us were able to cash.

Downswing or just playing bad?

lost a massive 1800 dollar pot on a draw, I had basically a open ended straight draw, and diamond flush draw on the turn. Decided to reraise it all in and poof, no help on river. Wont waste your time on specifics, that the nitty gritty of it. The game was 3-5 NL at the Tulalip Casino, it also doesnt help my mood that I oveheard some asshole say well there goes the money. I have had 4 straight losing sessions now, which is just not good for the savings account as well as the, psyche. Really need to think about my approach to poker and decide if its time to change up a few things.

Also just read about SWAT team invading the hotel in Manila, should be interesting.

Another Canada trip and WPT Bellagio 5 diamond

Its been a while since i have written anything but here goes. Played at the River Rock in Richmond BC last week and lost 1k doing stupid things in a game that could be easily beaten by playing ABC poker. I wanted to play in the 200 dollar satellite for the BC poker championships but it was full when i got there hence there was an alternates list. Didnt get to play in it, instead I donked it off playing 2-5 NL playing with some of Canada's finest. Upcoming on the horizon is my first big buy in tournament in Vegas, its the WPT 5 Diamond, a seat I won through a 250 dollar satellite. I've decided to use some vacation time instead of quittnig and see how things go in Vegas day by day. Wish me luck

Well I managed to recoup some of the money I lost in that nightmare session I had over a week ago. I played an 10 hour session of poker which consisted 5 hours of playing live and 5 hours playing a tournament in which I made final table. Played 5 hours of 3-5 NL and garnered a 1k winning session. Big hand of the session was when I was sitting with around 450 dollars 300 of which was the initial buy in. Im in the BB with 97o, 5 people limp in pot including myself. Flop comes out 6,8,5. 6,8 are of clubs. First player to act makes it 50 folded to button who reraises to 200, I figure to might as well push in this situation for 445 total. Initial raiser folds, button looks like someone just put a knife to his stomach and says you have the straight but I cant fold. So after agonizing for two minutes he finally calls with his set of 6s. The hand holds up...KAA CHING!!! I stop playing because play starts to become to crazy when im in pot everyone was targeting to bust me, and as we all know slim and none comes into play when big hands and big cash are involved. Its time to stop and reflect on the session, be happy and call it a day. I got bored and played some 3-6 limit Omaha hi/lo. I just buy in for 100 just for shits and giggles. All I can say is that it was a very entertaining game and it was a nice break from playing hold em.

After a few hours still at the casino just railing my dad play his game, the sign ups for the nightly tournament come up. I decide what the hell its only 40 dollars and I get to work on my tournament game. I just basically was running super well and busting people left and right. Hand of the tournament, I hold AA UTG its halfway through the levels and im sitting with huge chip stack at this point of the tourny im no worse than 3rd in chips. I limp in and to my delight short stack 1 pushes, ss2 pushes, BB ss3 pushes, I cant push my chips in any faster. One holds KQ, KJ suited, and AQ. I bust all three in one hand. In any case when it got down to 2 tables I was basically card dead, also throw in the 20 minute structure with increasing blinds, it really put a dent in my chip stack. Tried one move that didnt work but I was still ok, other than that I uneventfully made it to the final table where I bust out in 7th place, when my AQ suited runs into KK. The tournament was really fun and I got to see that my game is in good shape, only regret was being card dead the last section of the tournament, I was also unable to make those critical plays and steals necessary in late stages of NL tournaments, as another player beat me to it. He ended up winning the tournament so kudos to him I know he deserved the win, as he made those necessary plays at my table to maintain his chip stack until he started to hold cards again in which he just dominated the final table.

Next up on the horizon will be a satellite for the 15k Bellagio 5 diamond tournament in December. That will be Oct 28 with a 200 dollar entry fee. I also plan to play in some BC (vancouver canada) poker tournaments which are in November. Other than that just keep on grinding that 3-5 game and be happy with 500-1000 dollar wins. a week before the Vegas trip, during Vegas, and after. I've managed to rack up one of the best month long streches of poker ive ever had, and mostly this all came from playing 3-5 NL. Its kind of crazy that it all added up to a 5 digit score for the month. I'm wondering if anyone reads this anymore, but in any case its time to post. Only thing that sucks is that the BMW was in need of repair and my parents refuse to help pay for costs. My brother has no money plus they cut his hours of work, so even if i dont drive or own the BMW, I have to help pay for it. All in all it's coming out to 1400 dollars, its gonna suck but if it comes down to it no choice but to pay.
I plan to play some tournaments in Vancouver/Richmond B.C. Canada at the River Rock and hopefully play in the BC poker championships. All for now

Winning a poker tournament, and Harry Potter in one night

I played the daily tournament at the Roxbury Casino and took it down for 390 dollars, not bad for a 30 dollar buy in. Things went very smoothly as I didn't really have to pull any tricks, as I got the cards and trapped the overly aggressive players, as well as the novices. The final table went very well as I headed in with an avg chip stack, a crucial hand is when i was in the BB with Jfive of clubs. UTG calls, SB folds, and I check. Flop is 10, 5, 5. I check, UTG pushes, I insta call. He flips over AA, I double up and take the chip lead, from then on I busted another guy when I slowplay AA. Heads up was pretty short as I had great cards. Its a relatively small win but ill take it.

Now on to Harry Potter! I went to this Harry Potter party as the Pacific Science Center called Spells and Wells, needless to say it was just a blast. All of the HP fans decked out in their wizardly best, the movie was just awesome and I cant wait to get the last book in the series. My favorite character in the book is Severus Snape, I really do hope he is on the side of Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix. Seeing this movie in IMAX was cool, plus I really liked the anti Hermoine, which was Lovegood, looks like Harry's romance with the asian chic quickly fizzled when she busted on him. Oh well thats all for now

Vegas here we come

I was a victim of online fraud with my debit card which is bitch, but luckily most of my money is in cash and not in the bank. So its been a hassle and it looks to be mostly pain free to claim my stolen money. In any case it only puts a slight damper on things before I head to Vegas. I've decided instead of the 7 card stud event ill either play in a Bellagio Cup event or play a mid Nl game, im guessing 10/20. 15/30 NL., then on the 29th ill play in the 2.2k Nl event. If things really so super crazy well for me in Vegas like if hit a 6 figure score, im going to quit my job and stay in Vegas til the end of the WSOP.

Cash Game Report

today after work my family and I went shopping then into the casino. Went into the Nike store and bought some air jordan shirts and tiger woods golf shirts which I plan to wear in Vegas. Went TV shopping at the Sony store and we have our eye set on this 42 inch Bravia once our room remodel is done, all we got there was a self picture development machine. Now on to the poker, the game was 3-5 NL, I bought in for 200, I was on the button with 99 and raised it 25. The SB who has alot of money and was opening alot of pots as well as making moves made it 60, the BB Calls. I decided to push in, I get called by SB's QQ and BB AK suited. No help for me so im busto. Then I rebuy for another 200 i have AA UTG, I raise it 35, two callers, including our villian to my left. Flop comes king, ten, 3. Action is to me, I can see guy to my left is itching to bet so I let him. He leads out for 60, fold, then I push in. He insta calls, he called me with K10 off and hit two pair. Im cash broke, so I calm myself down and hit up the ATM for 300 dollars. I rebuy after 1 hour and im placed at the same table again. I went on an insane run and all in with a flopped wheel, a flopped set, and top pair top kicker. All in all I cashed out for over 2,900. What a turn around in less than 40 minutes, I get up from the game after I called 350 dollar reraise on a 2, J, 7 board with AJ, guy who went all in had QJ! I now have a decent sized bankroll for Las Vegas to play in the cash games, and buy in to a WSOP event. Poker what a crazy game!

Never play poker when your mind is not 100%

So I get off work today, and my dad says Roxbury Casino has a 110 dollar tourny tonight. So im like COOL! ill play. I'm basically card dead the whole tournament, never tried to make a play, just pretty much ABC poker, til I finally pushed with A10 and was called with 55. Flop a 10, but he rivers a 5. Then kinda upset I was card dead, I played some 3/6 limit, I bought in for 100. After a few uneventful hands, im down to about 75 dollars. I have Q10 hearts in BB, it was raised UTG with like 7 other callers. Flop is queen ten seven, its capped turn is 2 of hearts, capped to the turn with me and this other guy. At this point I tell the other guy you can beat two pair?, so i check the river, and FOLD! THINKING 2 PAIR WAS NO GOOD, WHILE I ACTUALLY HAD A QUEEN HIGH FLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FOLD MY HAND FACE UP SAYING TWO PAIR NO GOOD, HE SHOWS A SET OF QUEENS, THEN SOMEONE SAYS YOU HAVE A FLUSH!! BUT I ALREADY MUCKED!.............................THE POT WAS WELL OVER 100 DOLLARS! JUST GOT UP FEELING LIKE A STUPID JACKASS AND WENT HOME.........

1 week later, tenative WSOP schedule

Well its 1 week since I declared id quit poker for a while, well I realized ill never stop playing poker. Just needed this time off to think about things regarding poker. In any case I will be going with my parents to Las Vegas June 28th to celebrate my mom's birthday. Looking at the WSOP schedule, I can play events 46 and 47. 46 is a 7 card stud hi/lo event, I love 7 card stud hi, but I am still shaky on the lo part of things. 47 is a NL hold em event so im kinda excited about that, with that said these are just tentative plans and I hope it wont get in the way of family time. If that doesnt pan out, I'll play a tournament at the Bellagio. There are the daily 500 dollar tournaments and satellites to the WPT Bellagio Cup events.

hings were goin well for me in the tournament, til I ran into this one donk who was just holding over me. About four hours into the tourny blinds at 400-800 im sitting with about 24k which is probably top 5 stack size in a field of 83. This one guy who has been opening pots all day with any ace and calling raises with ace rag. makes it 2100 UTG he is sitting with 10k I believe. Realizing this I just decided to make a play in late position so I raise all in with Q10 of hearts. Keep in mind this is the only time in the tournament id ever made a play, and when id raise I had the goods. I showed it to them everytime, So this guy is in the tank, then after 5 minutes he calls with Ace 5 diamonds, flops an Ace. The whole table was like you took that long to call with that ****, I was told by 5 people at the table I made a great play and cant believe I was called down with that. After I lost that pot I berated him but controlled myself to the point not to do over do it, as I still had enough chips to come back. In any case I was card dead for the remainder of the tourny til I had KQ pushed in and wouldnt you know it our hero had Ak to bust me.

No more poker for me for a long time.

Id also like some thoughts on my play.

To that guy in the WSOP Tourny at Tulalip Casino with the Minnesota Sweater and Tulalip Poker hat. Your a donk, what the hell did u think u could beat by calling an all in. If I ever see you again im gonna just kick your ***. Here we are playing for a 19k first place and you play push/pray poker, your **** got hard every time you saw an ace.

If it gets down to three players and we are fairly even in chips I'll probably propose a chop if one hasn't been already proposed. today is league night, and I hope improve off my less than stellar first week performance. Granted, I havent touched a bowling ball in months and I did manage a score over 200 in my 2nd game. I'm gonna bring my better bowling balls and hopefully I will get a more consistent reaction from them, I mean at 200 dollars a ball they fuckin better perform. Other than that work has been great, and I should get my new Polo Big Horse shirts in the mail today. Poker playing has been non existent, same goes for girl department. Although there is one girl I like that is now very much available, and ive also gotten back my excitement a little bit to go back to the Philippines.

So its my day off, Saturday. My uncle and I decide to take the nice boat ride to Clearwater Casino in Bainbridge Island. We eat at the buffet, as which I devoured several slices of Prime Rib, fried shrimp, and salmon. He goes off for a smoke, and tries 20 bucks at the slots. To which I then say "ill check out the poker", he then sits down at the Pai Gow table and plunks down 60. I head to the poker room, only game going was 4/8 hold em, so I put my name on the waiting list. Head off to the ATM machine and withdraw 300 dollars. To kill sometime I play some blackjack, after about half an hour of highs and lows I come out even from my initial 40 dollar chip buy in. Poker room calls my name, so I go over and buy a rack of chips 100 bucks. So the first three pots I play I hit nice pot with a King high flush, and I make a ballsy call with my pocket pair of 33 on the river to take down a nice pot in which two guys were trying to bluff. Biggest pot of the night game when I flopped J, 6,7. I had J7 in BB with two people betting out so I let them bet for me. Turn came a Jack, woo hoo! yet the two people continue to bet. River a queen of clubs, making a possible flush for someone. BET BET BET! WOO HOO! So I take down a nice pot in which the turn and river bets were capped 32 dollars max per player.

Here comes the ugly half of the story, after a few busted draws, and AQ, AK not hitting. I went from a high of 230 bucks down to 160. So I get QQ UTG and of course make it two bets to go, then I get three callers. Flop is seven, four, deuce check to me, I bet 4. One caller after two players fold, turn brings a 7. I'm still not worried, so I lead out eight. I get called. River A! I check he bets 8, I make a crying call. A7 of hearts..GRRRR.. Now heres the final hand, QQ in the BB. UTG calls, call, call, button raises, SB makes it 3 bets, I cap it at 4. so that makes 16 bucks with 6 people in the hand. Flop brings queen, eight, nine. SB raises, I call, call call, button raises, sb calls, I cap! turn brings a harmless 4 I think. SB checks, I raise, fold fold, BUTTON RE Raises 16, SB makes it three bets, I call, BUTTOn caps it. for 32. I then say to the button you called with J10. In any case i make crying calls on the river for only one bet, sure enough Jack 10. I told the table thats it im going home, I cant take this. The poker manager then comes up to me and sympathizes with me and offers to pay for my uncle and my fare on the ferry boat back to Seattle. So thats my story, now as I write this im watching some show with Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz MMK, cool love story so far.

AK--the most dangerous hand in poker

The best STARTING hand in poker, but sometimes we all play them like two beautiful aces. As I was on the way to work, I was contemplating what would be the best way to play AK in the long run. I've decided that it would be now be wise to always play them agressively pre-flop and take it from there, no matter how the cards fall should you be forced in an all in situation. "Its better to be one way or the other, there is no middle road when playing NL poker" So with that quote is the mentality I will take to the table next time I play, that is of course the game plan, but as we all know with poker it greatly depends on situations and timing. How to exploit, when to exploit, can the situation/players be exploited are all things one should consider when sitting down at the table. So in other words, dont take the middle road when playing AK

I was supposed to go on a break from poker, but the bug hit me. So, I decide to buy in for 50 bucks and play some 1/2 NL hold em. Lose that when i called a raise with 5,7 in the BB. Flop comes out 5,6,8 rainbow. I check, original raiser raises 14 dollars, so I then push in for 89 dollars. He calls in a second, flips over KK. So any 5,7,4,9. No dice bye bye Jerry.

So right now im saving my money like crazy, and with any hope by the time we go back to the Philippines id have saved over 10k. I hope I stay off the felt for a while, as I have totally lost all confidence in my poker playing.

I just made my withdrawal request on Pokerstars, boy does it feel good to be getting that much money. Tomorrow will officially make it illegal in Washington State. Sunday, I played some live poker at the casino (Muckleshoot), we had been there for a few hours I was watching my dad play the 4/8 hold em. But I couldnt stand just watching, so I asked my dad if I could play the 7 card stud game which is played 1-4 spread limit with 50 cent ante. Within in hour I donked off 90 dollars! Not wanting to hit up the ATM to chase the money playing a 4-5 handed 7 card stud game, I just decided enough was enough. Right now I will probably be playing one tournament a week, and possibly playing a ring game on Sunday and Monday nights, that is if my parents decide to go to the casino. Other than that I hope so sharpen my game that way for the first 1500 NL WSOP event coming up June 27th, my dad and I will be playing that event. Should be a huge turnout.

Work has been going great, thank god this is the final week of classes. I dont know how I managed to teach and work full time at the front desk. OPM MYX is on right now I like this song its called SUGOD. Also, im getting the itch to go back and get a graduate degree at the UofWashington, so I will make an appointment with an adviser soon.

Deposited some money again, and decided to give it another shot. The result of which turned around nearly 2 weeks of futile efforts of losing poker. First I started off playing 2/4 NL, with an initial buy in of 150 dollars, with in 2 hours or so nearly bumped that up 785. Then i move up to play some 5/10 limit i was just catching big hands and making my draws in multi-way monster pots. Before I know it my initial deposit is now at 1590. Now I was feeling good, so foolishly i moved up to the 100/200 limit game on pstars. 5 people in. I post the BB, to my delight KK WOOO!! Flop comes up K45 rainbow. RAISE RAISE RAISE!! turn brings K!!!, raise raise raise,river bring3s, RAISE RAISE RAISE!!!!!!!!! I have 4 kings, one player has 4s full of kings, and one guy chasing a gutshot made his wheel on the river. the Result a 5,740 dollar pot!!!!!!!!! WOO FUCKING HOO!!. With online poker being illegal in the state of Washington on June 7th. I officially end my online poker exploits a winning player! What a difference 2 days and a little luck makes.

I was already preparing to go to bed when the poker bug hit me. I figured why not deposit 50 dollars to play two of the 20+2 sit n gos at pokerstars. Instead i decide to play 2/4, i go on a rush and turn into 93. So I go ahead and play the sit n go, i bust out with with JJ vs KK in the 4th hand. Then i decide some 3/6 shorthanded is ok, i run it up to 180. Then the decline, I went on a rotten luck of hands. I mean QQ busted by 72, KQ vs K7. Needless to say im fucked. I then go ahead and deposit another 200 and play 5/10. No dice, lose it all. All of this because I just had to play some poker before bed. SICK SICK SICK. Im so upset right now

Just got home from downtown, I thought why not create a poker /life blog about myself.
I played recently as last night playing 4/8 hold em with a kill pot. Played for an hour and a half left with 224 after an initial buy in of 100. It was a real juicy game but I had decided winning 124 was enough for me. Earlier in the day I had played .50/1 dollar NL hold em on pokerstars. i play great and get it up to 159 dollars, im dealt AK in third posistion I raise it to five dollars button pushes all in for 210 dollars, after thinking for 4 seconds i call, HE HAS AJ WOOO

This guy had been trying play every pot I was in as I made a few timely all in moves in which he mucked some pretty decent hands. So the way I see it if I had won that hand and stopped. I wouldnt of stopped to play poker in the casino after i had watched Da Vinci Code. So all in all im not terribly upset or happy.
